Everything you need...kind of

First, let me start by saying that if it had been possible, I would have rated this 3.5 stars.
So, this book presents all of the necessary basic knowledge to become a competent percussive guitarist. Word to the wise, though, this book is not for beginning guitarists. It does not coddle you through learning the guitar, but, rather, builds upon basic assumed skills such as knowing chord shapes, chord changes, playing harmonics as well as requiring a decent understanding of tablature and music notation. Topics cover basic string slapping, two handed slapping, body percussion, harmonics, and alternative tunings. The exercises start off basic enough and then progressively get more and more complicated as your skills grow.
That being said, while the book provides the very basic foundation with minimal explanation, the DVD does even less to support the book or the learner as it only shows the exercises being played at full speed with no verbal instruction, and no slower versions for play along and practice. Together, the learner is really left on his/her own to piece the lessons and exercises together. Understandably, this is not much different than learning from tablature in a guitar magazine, but I expected more from the book altogether. The book and DVD together progress very quickly, but if you're patient and willing to put in the time, by the end of it all, you will be able to play some pretty fantastic pieces.

no really helpful the video part

I don't know.. the tabs are ok the written part is ok, but the video...they made it with a lot of...how to tell..the video part should be the most accurate and important and they let it with no slow versions of the exercise, no comments for the learner..really really a bad idea
