Excellent Spanish version of Henny Penny. All the animals think the sky is falling. Accompanying illustrations are adorable! Great book for preschoolers learning Spanish. Rhyming names of animals are fun and easy to remember, Pavo Bravo, Gansa Mansa, etc. My children love it!

Great Taste No Pain

This book with the program has given me back my life. It is amazing and easy. I have no choice but to stick with it. No one should suffer with G.E.R.D. (Acid Reflux), IBS and a number of other illnesses. The book is made up of receipes and a pocket list program to use when dinning out. It is everything it claims to be.

Challenging, yet not to the point of livid frustration :-). A nice brain break from Sudoku. Clear, easy-to-understand directions. Easily readable, full page puzzles. Only con is that the last 20+ pages contain introductions to other Sudoku & brain puzzle types. Fine in the first book. But, repetitively published in every other game book by this author.

Challenging but Manageable

An amateur soprano with an interest in opera, I was first introduced to this series through the Soprano Arias book. However, that book had only a few arias that I was familiar with. This Coloratura Aria set has many famous arias, such as the Queen of the Night's aria from the Magic Flute, Olympia's from Tales of Hoffman, etc. There is a wide variety of languages, including, English, German, French, and Italian. Every aria is translated in the beginning, rather than underneath the original text, preserving the composer's intent.
Moreover, this book presents the challenging arias in a way that makes them more accessible to those of us who may not be professional opera singers. Many of the songs have two options for the ending--either the easier, simple ending, or the more difficult (and often higher) standard cadenza. Most of the songs go up to at least two octaves above middle C, and some even go up to that high F. However, I highly recommend this book for any opera enthusiast or soprano student looking to develop her range.

This is a fantastic book for the genuine coloratura soprano, as well as offering a good selection for light lyrics who are looking to increase their agility and move into the coloratura repertoire. While offering a few easier selections, such as "Poor Wand'ring One," many of these arias are very challenging and should definitely not be undertaken by the beginning singer. It is great to have these blockbuster soprano arias all in one place!

reference book for electrical anlogies to mechanical systems

It will help if you have an engineering background (say electrical) and have done introductory control systems analysis to read this. The book is a solid reference biased to practical physical systems. Gives the electrical network analogies as well as dynamical analysis - many pictures, very simple English explanations - very much practical bent. Plenty of maths - but in that simple 1960's style.

Great read, maybe not a good reference book

If you actually plan on sitting down and reading a book on systems and signals, this one is great. It also has some cute tidbits on how to plot graphs using your slide rule. Not great if you just want to skim through and find an equation.

Excellent introduction to system analysis: thorough, useful, practical, and fun to read!

I bought this book out of plain curiosity, since I became interested in the art and science of system analysis due to problems I encountered in my daily work as an Earth scientist. The book is clearly focused on the dynamics and control of technical systems and is therefore mostly suited to engineers. The writing style is clear, pedagogical and even entertaining. Although the book might surely show its age, I found the theory and basic methodology general enough and of such fundamental nature to be still suitable for application in many problems, even in those of the Earth Sciences which I am interested in. In particular, I found the modelling of systems by electrical and mechanical analogues a useful and illuminating approach, at least at the conceptual level. Although these techniques have obviously fallen in disuse with the introduction of the digital computer and advanced modelling techniques (i.e. finite element and the like) I am of the opinion that they still represent a superior choice for the first approach to a low-dimensional problem and also for teaching and conceptual modelling. Overall a highly recommended read at a more than reasonable price.

Bless you Davis My Hero!

Not big on writing reviews, still in school, don't have time for it but I wanted to spread the word. This book was my lifeline. Peds quarter for us was KILLER! And it took out a few of our classmates as well as added a few from the class before. It was the turning point for so many. I made it though but I did so because I had this and I used it well.
The way the questions are worded prepared me for how the tests were going to be and by studying the rationales as well, I was able to critically think through the questions I wasn't sure of. No lie, I wouldn't have made it through without this book and the OB one as well.
I am currently in my mental health quarter and have the Davis book for that as well. Once again, I am passing thanks to the Q&A format of these books. When I graduate, I'll find this Davis person and Kiss him on the lips!!

Good review for class and N-CLEX.

I own a lot of the books in the series including fundamentals, test taking strategies and med surge. These are a great review and the CD is helpful. I also own the Hogan review books. I like the hogan books better because they have N-CLEX alerts in the margins and my instructors almost always have test questions on that material. I have placed level 2 on all of my ATI tests. I also get A's and B's in all my nursing classes since I started using these books. If you can buy both the Davis and the Hogan books then do it. If you can't afford both then I say go for the Hogan books. Stay away from the Lippincott's made easy series. Those were lame!

For Nursing school these make all the difference for helping understand how to read and interpret nclex questions. These books increased my grades in Nursing classes on exams by an easy 10 points!

About the Author
David Kilcullen was formerly the Senior Counterinsurgency Advisor to General David Petraeus in Iraq and later an advisor to General Stanley McChrystal in Afghanistan. Kilcullen is also Adjunct Professor of Security Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Fellow at the Center for a New American Security.

With everything going down in politics today and because knowledgeable people have figured out there is an insurgency within the United States right now these are things you need to know. The Deep State is acquiescing to BLM, Antifa, #resist and 50+ other groups to take down the US. You need to know how it is played to keep from becoming a casualty either by playing their game or beaten up just because you were in the area.
Kilcullen has another book that goes with this one titled "On Killing". Don't let the title throw you off. He is not advocating, he is explaining. Also look into his book "The Accidental Guerrilla."

Comprehensive and thorough - but now needs revision.

Written before the full commitment to Afghanistan - outlining the views of a professional (Australian) infantry officer, drawing on experience in other campaigns. Well thought out and presented clearly. The ten years passed have altered some of the comments and recommendations - but much of it should still be compulsory reading at infantry colleges - and for those interested.

As is outlined in the book, COunter-INsurgency requires an utterly different way of thinking - and training. This is not something that large, peacetime armies are good at. The other aspect is that is does require gaining the hearts and minds of the local people. The biggest problem with that is simply that the average 20 year old soldier (or Marine) can't win the heart and mind of his mother-in-law, so how in blue blazes is he expected to do that to people of another culture - whose language he cannot speak?

Good Text Book

Over the past ten years our television screens have been filled with images of Afghanistan and Iraq. This oonflict has been described as an insurgency. Various Generals have described the US response to this as a counterinsurgency. I am sure many people wonder what that is. This book answers that very question. It describes how to run a counterinsurgency.

For sure military people need to read this book. The book will arm you with priceless information which might save your life. Others might like the book as a tool to understand what is going on.

The book in reality is a collection of articles by the author, David Kilcullen. The author served as an advisor to General Petrais during the surge in Iraq. He is also a retired LTC with the Australian Army. These articles offer gems of wisdom that will unlock the gates of knowledge about the subject. There is also a few lessons nonmilitary people will like his chapter on indicators. He talks about how you measure success on large projects as counterinsurgency. I also liked the last chapter about the grand world wide islamic counterinsurgency as he put it. The tactics he suggests gives hope to all of us as you watch the TV events.
