If you have to read Robbin's, get this Pocket Companion!

Any med student knows Robbin's is like running into a 1,500 page brick wall over and over again to become the future Dr. House of the world. The pocket companion is perfect for finding key concepts and reviewing the day or 2 before exams. Cannot live without this Pocket Companion. It's going to get me through class, rotations, residency, and life as a doctor.

Handy to keep around

Reading the Pocket version helped me stomach the monster task of reading the "big" version. This pocket version has most of the details from the book, but not all. It was convenient to bring places - it really did fit into my shorts pockets! The authors intended to capture the wisecracking attitude of the Big Book, but fell well short. Too squeezed for space to include humor.

Good luck to all souls attempting a PBD course.

About the Author

David Colander is Distinguished College Professor at Middlebury College. He has authored, coauthored, or edited over 40 books and over 150 articles on a wide range of economic topics.

He earned his B.A. at Columbia College and his M.Phil. and Ph.D. at Columbia University. He also studied at the University of Birmingham in England and at Wilhelmsburg Gymnasium in Germany. Professor Colander has taught at Columbia University, Vassar College, the University of Miami, and Princeton University as the Kelley Professor of Distinguished Teaching. He has also been a consultant to Time-Life Films, a consultant to Congress, a Brookings Policy Fellow, and Visiting Scholar at Nuffield College, Oxford.

He has been president of both the History of Economic Thought Society and the Eastern Economics Association. He has also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Economic Perspectives, The Journal of Economic Education, The Journal of Economic Methodology, The Journal of the History of Economic Thought, The Journal of Socio-Economics, and The Eastern Economic Journal. He has been chair of the AEA Committee on Electronic Publishing, a member of the AEA Committee on Economic Education, and is currently the associate editor for content of the Journal of Economic Education.

He is married to a pediatrician, Patrice. In their spare time, the Colanders designed and built an oak post-and-beam house on a ridge overlooking the Green Mountains to the east and the Adirondacks to the west. The house is located on the site of a former drive-in movie theater. (They replaced the speaker poles with fruit trees and used the I-beams from the screen as support for the second story of the carriage house and the garage.) They now live in both Florida and Vermont.

however I must say I really like how it is written

I'm still in the process of using this book for my college class, however I must say I really like how it is written. It is easy to follow which is a must since my class is online. This book arrived very quickly and was in very good used condition, just as I expected.

Kindle version is deficient - Hard to read and simulate the real test situation

Just bought the Kindle version of this book; the user experience is deficient, as you want to make the test experience as close as possible to the real test. In the real test you get only 1 question at a time; with this electronic version, there is no possible way to enlarge/zoom to only see the one question you are dealing with. I am not through the content yet, since this shortcoming makes it quite time-consuming to use the book; I will write another review once I take the real test to be fair as to the effectiveness of the content; Had I known this issue, I would have not bought the Kindle version.
Trying to make things simpler, I thought that vewing the book using a larger screen would help; to my surprise, when I tried to download the book to my mac and use the kindle app to read it, I received an error stating that the "format was not compatible". Not sure who is at fault here, if the publisher or Amazon for not testing enough....

This is a good book. Bought a couple ones but this one got more exercises(approx. 100 questions with answers explained). Only comment I would have is to include a table of content so readers could flip between exercise sections and answers more easily. It may not be a problem for physical book but kindle version, it's nice to have.

About the Author
John L. Seitz is Associate Professor of Government at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Professor Seitz has spent eleven years working for organizations which are concerned with economic and political development in the Third World. His work has taken him to South Korea, Iran, Brazil, Liberia, and Pakistan.
